Amsoil has clearly demonstrated their superiority in the field of synthetic lubrication.  Compare for yourself and see the difference Amsoil makes.  The industry has finally moved towards extended drain intervals where just 5 or 6 years ago drain intervals beyond 5,000 miles were unheard of.

The difference is Group III basestocks are actually petroleum based oils that have gone through a process referred to as Hydrocracking.  Yes, these oils do perform better then Group II non-hydrocracked oils, however their performance is no match to Group IV synthetic oils.

Group IV Synthetic Oils: Do you have to become a chemist to use synthetic oil?  Of course not, but we also don't want you to be fooled by the slick marketing approach that the big oil companies use.  They all talk a big game, but the bottom line is they do not stand up to the performance level of Amsoil.  Group IV synthetics is the strength of the Amsoil product line.  Proof of this is our 25,000-mile drain intervals. 25,000-miles or 1 year: You read that correctly, Amsoil was the first and only company to extend drain intervals to 25,000 miles.  There was time back in 1976 (Amsoil was founded in 1972) that Mobil 1 introduced their synthetic oil and also offered a 25,000 mile interval, however they eventually took the drain interval recommendation off their labels.  Now Mobil 1 has gone back to recommending drain intervals of 15,000-miles.  Casrtol Edge is also recommending 15,000 mile intervals in order to grab a share of this market.
